Moving to New Discussion Board

1. Accessing the new board
There are two ways to access the new board. First, from the regular FODU board, you may click on Discussion board on the right side of your screen. Second, you may add a bookmark to your browser with the following link and click on it each time you want to access the board: Discussion Board .

2. Registering to post comments
Everyone may read the contents of our board. However, in order to post comments, you must register. To register, click on the Register command located on the left side of the screen (beneath the board title). When registering, you will be asked to provide a name and a password. In addition, you will be asked for an email address. The email address you provide must be a valid one. This email address will be seen only by the moderator and it will not be shared with anyone. After you complete your registration, you must access your email to validate your registration. You will do this by clicking on a link that will be sent to you in an email by our board. After you validate your registration, you will become an official member of the board and ready to post comments.

3. Posting comments
To post comments, you will need to make sure you are logged in. If you see a message saying "Welcome Guest (Log In | Register)" this will indicate that you are not logged in. In that case, click on the Log In command, and enter your name and your password (the name and password you selected during the registering process). After you log in, you should see a message saying "Logged in as YourName." When logging in, if you choose the “Remember Me” option, next time when you access the board you will not need to log in. You will be remembered at all times. This option is recommended for those who use the same private and secure computer for posting comments.

Next step is to post your comment. We will assume you want to post a comment under the “General topics” section of the board. Click on "General topics" link displayed on the screen. Then, click on "General topics" link a second time. Next, you will see all the existing comments under that topic. To post a comment of your own, click on the "Add Reply" command. This will open up a text box where you will type in your comment. After you finish typing your comment, navigate to the bottom of the text box. You will see an "Add Reply" button. Click on it, and your comment will be posted. Your comment will appear as the last comment under the selected topic. When there are multiple pages of comments under a topic, your comment will be added as the last comment on the last page.

4. Editing comments
After posting a comment, if you discover you need to make revisions to it, you will need to locate your comment and click on the Edit command. The Edit command is located on the top right of each comment. You may only edit your own comments. After you click on the Edit command, your comment will be displayed in a text box and you will be able to revise it. When your revisions are done, go to the bottom of the text box, and you will see a "Post modified reply" button. Click on it to post the revised comment.

5. Customizing your profile
To customize your member profile (for example, to hide your email address and other such functions) click on My Controls. Then, review and where necessary revise the options available under Personal Profile and Options sections.

At this point, you will be ready to start posting comments on the new board.

Here are some functions you may want to be familiar with:
To send a private message (PM) to another board member, locate a message posted by that member. On the bottom of each comment you will see a PM command. Click on it and send a message. An email option is also available but that is the same as sending an email to someone (i.e. it will go to the regular email box of that member). The PMs go to the inbox of each member on the board. To read PM’s coming into your inbox, click on the Inbox command next to My Controls.

If you need further help or experience any difficulties, please post a message below indicating what type of difficulty you are having or what type of help you need. Based on the nature of the problem/question, I will be happy to provide more assistance.

Unfortunately you will have to wait for a long time. Brodhead is determined to be the very last one to exonerate these kids, if at all. I bet, today is a bad for him. What a president?

This may sound like a trite, very non-intellectual comment, but I am so outraged by the Durham DA's continuing persecution of those three overwhelming innocent students, that I would choose to pardon Saddam Hussein from the gallows if his replacement in the noose would be this despicable filth Nifong.
